You won't believe what is out there right at the beach in front of the hotel...
An amazing amount of species right down to your feet. The following pictures
have been taken in flat water while snorkeling. Because of rough weather conditions
some of the photographs have been taken at bad visibility, sorry for that. I
have also seen a huge lobster, but he was sitting undernieth a rock, so that
I was unable to take a picture.

A Mouray in flat water? Yes. But it doesn't matter because
of the rocky ground it was not a preferred place for people swimming close
to it. |
 |
Keep away of the 'Bearded Fireworm' (Hermodice carunculata). He is able
to shoot out his thorns like arrows. This may cause very hurting wounds
which are healing very badly.
Length about 8 in.

The 'Goldspotted Eel' (Myrichthys ocellatus) looks like an eel and moves
like a snake. He eats algies which are covering the sand.
Length about 3 feet.

A huge school of sardinelike fish was surrounding me all of a sudden.
I don't know the exact name of the species. But if you buy them at the
fisherman in the neighbourhood and you put them into the pan for a certain
time, they really taste delicious. ;-)
Size 4-6 in.

This is a 'Sharptail Eel' in his dayover residence. |
 |
This again is a 'Balloonfish'. It is the same species as seen with the
deep dive series.
Size about 12 in.

Somehow unusual was the encounter with this 'Green Turtle'. With the
exception of laying their eggs they usually do not approach the beach
this close. This one here probably was attracted by left overs of fish,
which the fisherman have thrown back to the water. This again is unusual
because turtles are normally vegetarians.
Size about 3 feet.
